As a key unit in the Aid Management Directorate, the Aid Coordination Unit (ACU) serves as the platform of coordination between the Government and donors on the management of Development aid. by facilitating negotiations on development assistance at various levels.
The unit functions as focal point for the donor-GoA discussion on development assistance to ensure that aid is aligned with development GoA priorities and the principles of aid effectiveness.
In the pursuit of the above, the unit performs the following major functions:
- 1.Review, negotiate and finalize the agreements (Development Framework agreements, financing agreements, MoUs) with Development partners in the in the view of the development framework of Afghanistan.
- 2.Conducting Development Cooperation Dialogue with the donors
- 3.Conductingportfolio reviews with the development partners
- 4.Providing support to the implementation of ANDS and NPPs, through effective coordination
- 5.Conducting Core Donor Consultation which provides inputs to the preparation of National Budget
- 6.Updating and maintaining Aid Information
- 7.Coordinating the specific project related issues with the relevant Implementation agencies and development partners
- 8.Arranging and managing High level Donor Coordination meetings like High Level committee meeting on Aid effectiveness
- 9.Briefing senior Government officials on the aid related issues and providing recommendations on the same
- 10.Representing the GiROA in the National and International events related to the aid management
