Budget Policy, Coordination & Reporting
Introduction
Budget Policy, Coordination and Reporting is one of the main components of the Budget Department. The department within MoF deals with short and long term policies of the Government in the development process. Whereas in close collaboration with ANDS and Minister's office it works on the multi year budgetary planning etc. like sectors costing, MTFF (Mid Term Fiscal Framework), MTBF (Mid Term Budget Framework) and MTEF (Mid Term Expenditure Framework) as part of budgetary reform in the Government. The Budget Department also coordinates budgetary issues among its different sectors, line ministries, budget committee and undertakes organizing of budget committee meetings chaired by MoF, providing full detailed documents related to the meeting and participates in the negotiations with line ministries and the budget committee in end of year and mid year budget hearing processes. Compilation of budget data and draft of budget statement and guidelines for its execution are key functions of Budget department. The department is responsible in the execution and following up of the budget calendar/ timetable during the course of year. The preparation of Fiscal Strategy and Budget Framework Report and final report of the fiscal year budget are the tasks of this department. The Budget Policy, Coordination and Reporting Unit assists and supports the Budget Department in the implementation of the mentioned activities.

The strategy of Budget Policy, Coordination and Reporting Unit is mainly consistent with the Budget Department main strategies. The unit assists the Budget Department in its implementation of Policies and Strategies to meet the goals and objectives set by the department
Major Acheivemetns
The key achievements of Budget Policy, Coordination and Reporting Unit consist:
Helped the management in tracking and increasing the budget execution rate by regular check of National Budget top 50 projects. The process helped the Government in its budget planning for coming years
Good track of donor financing to Core Development Budget.
Constant follow up on the implementation of the 1387 Budget Time table by the unit resulted in early Budget approval by the Legislative. This will enhance the execution rate of 87 Budget since the projects started earlier.
The Budget Policy unit had an active role in the preparation of 5 years prioritization plan of Afghanistan National Budget.
