The Budget Execution Directorate (BED) is one of the three main directorates within the Directorate-General Budget (DGB). The BED is divided into eight sectors of the Afghanistan National Development Strategy (ANDS), and the Budget Execution Units. BED’s main responsibilities include support to line ministries and budgetary units in timely formulation of the national budget and adequately resourcing national priorities identified in the ANDS and the National Priority Programs (NPPs) within the available public resources and based on the approved programs. Additionally, BED ascertains the national budget is executed in accordance with the Public Financial Management (PFM) and Procurement laws and regulations to meet the dire development needs of the Afghan people.
